Apple iPhone 7 Plus Review
The Apple IPhone 7 Plus is an Apple smartphone that has dual camera, probably the first apple iphone to come with a dual powerful camera for taking images and videos. Just like its predecessor, it is also a waterproof smartphone from apple and also a 3 GB smartphone from apple.
You should also note that this awesome device comes with a dynamic physical and hardware design. Apple designed it with a bigger display measuring at 5.5 inches with 16 million colors. To crown it all, the home key is a pressure sensitive part of the device. This home also has a fingerprint sensor place on it for more advanced security options.
It also comes in three various internal storage options which are 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The iPhone 7 plus comes with a 4G connectivity that runs at 600 megabytes per seconds. The power generation of the phone is from a 2900mAh battery.
But sadly, it has no 3.5 millimeter audio jack and as usual for iPhones, it also does not have a memory card slot. It should have been built with fast charging capabilities but it was not. The Jet-Black model is allergic to scratch.
The device when unboxed will reveal a white wireless paired earphone. You will also see a white charger with three pins that produces 5 volts per 1 ampere. The charger has a detachable USB cord that is also white and long. You can also use the USB chord to connect the iPhone to another device like the PC.

Since the device doesn’t have an earphone jack, apple placed an earphone adapter in the pack. This adapter has the USB plug at one end and an earphone jack at the other end allowing users of the phone to use any earphone of their choice.
The iPhone 7 Plus has a physical dimension of 158.2 millimeters long, 77.9 millimeters wide and 7.3 millimeter thick. These ranges of dimension are almost the same with iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7. But their weights vary a lot as the iPhone 7 weighs 188 grams’ while iPhone 6 is weighing 172 grams and iPhone 6s weighs 192 grams. The iPhone 7 Plus has a larger screen size, and guessing rightly, the bigger display most has added more weight to the device.
The bigger display is 5.5 inches in size. The device lacks an audio jack but a wireless paired earphone was made available for that inconvenience. Like mentioned earlier, the Jet-Black model get easily scratched so it requires a pampered care for it to last longer.
The device is a waterproof for itself. And guessing rightly, the water immunity made apple not to include and earphone jack to the device. But before you charge your iPhone 7 Plus or any other waterproof device, make sure it is very dry so as to avoid destruction of the phone by short-circuit.
With the earpiece at the top front-side of the phone, it also has a home key placed below the retina display which is at the center. The front side also sees a 7 MP camera. The home key is not just a key but it also has a Touch ID v2.0 fingerprint scanner on it. The left side of the phone has the silencer key and two volume keys while the right side has the SIM slot for a nano SIM and also a power/lock button.
At the bottom of the phone are paired eight rounded openings with a USB port of 2.0 placed in between them. These eight openings are microphone and speaker respectively. At the back you will see a pair of 12-megapixel camera with a quad-LED dual tone flash beside it. This device has variant colors of Jet Black, Black, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold and Red.
The device has a 5.5 inches display which beats the display size of iPhone 7 and iPhone 6 and 6s. the display comes with a 1080p resolution that has a pixel density of 401ppi. The display type is a LED-backlit IPS LCD screen that has 3D touch enabled on it. This 3D touch technology started from iPhone 6s.
The device has a brightness of 570 nits which is 25% brighter and comes with a wider color gamut. The brightness of the display is excellent with a contrast ratio of 1400:1. The color calibration is also awesome as it produces excellent colors that we see around the environment.
Some Apple devices do come with the Night Shift mode which sets the colors in those apple devices so that the eyes aren’t exposed to the bright blue light after sun’s light out. You can also set the exact start hours and end hours and your screen will be yellow during that time.
The operating system that runs this device is iOS 10.0.1 just like iPhone 7 and this operating system is upgradable to iOS 12.1. The iPhone 7 Plus just like the iPhone 7 is equipped with a new generation A10 chip. It is also the first iPhone to have a Quad core CPU that runs at 2.34 GHz. The iPhone 7 Plus has a different GPU. This GPU is a six-core that is 50% faster and uses more power.
This device is also the first iPhone to come with a 3 GB RAM unlike the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 that comes with 2 GB RAM. The device has 3 versions of internal memory including 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB internal memory. As sad as it has always been, iPhone devices do not come with a slot for an SD card thereby making files and data to be stored on the phone memory.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus comes with dual rear camera that is 12 megapixels. The second camera is equipped with telephoto lens which meant for more accurate portrait shooting. The first 12 MP rear camera has an aperture of f/1.8 at 28 mm wide. The second camera has an aperture of f/2.8 at 56 mm telephoto, and 2 times optical zooming functions.
The rear camera has a quad-LED dual tone flash and a HDR. The rear camera also comes with a PDAF and a video recording capabilities 2160p at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720 at 240fps. The front side sees a 7-megapixel camera. Beside the front camera is a retina flash that flashes the display screen serving as flash.
The front camera also has a face detection, a HDR and video recording technology of about 1080p. The front camera has a video resolution of 1080p@30fps. The HDR when enabled makes photos appear darker but maintains the appropriate photo quality. Apple iPhone 7 Plus can of record videos of 2160p at 30 frames in addition to 1080p capturing at 30 and 60 fps. Slow-motion videos can also be recorded at 1080p at 120 fps or 720p at 240 fps.
The iPhone 7 Plus has a WLAN, a 4.2 version of Bluetooth, an A-GPS and also an NFC. It has no radio. The USB port is version 2.0 with proprietary reversible connector. The device comes with a fingerprint sensor mounted at the front of the phone. It also has an accelerometer, a gyro, a proximity, a compass and a barometer.
Talking about the network technology, we have 2G bands (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 – A1661, A1784 and CDMA 800 / 1900 / 2100 – A1661), 3G bands (HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 – A1661, A1784 and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO & TD-SCDMA – A1661) and 4G bands (LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 27(800), 28(700), 29(700), 30(2300), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500) – A1661, A1784). The connectivity speed for HSPA 42.2 is 5.76 Mbps, while LTE-A (3CA) Cat9 450 is 50 Mbps and EV-DO Rev.A is 3.1 Mbps.
It is pre-installed with imassaging capabilities, SMS messaging, MMS, Email and Push Email. The browser is safari HTML5. Apple preinstalled cool softwares like Siri natural language commands and dictation, iCloud cloud service, MP3/WAV/AAX+/AIFF/Apple Lossless player, MP4/H.264 player, Audio/video/photo editor and a Document editor.
